The Gold Standard Scar Treatment
Myscar is considered the gold standard in modern scar care. Silicone is universally recognised as the first-line prophylactic and treatment option for scars, particularly abnormal scars. Current international scar management guidelines endorse silicone as the 'gold standard' non-invasive treatment for scars. The efficacy and safety have been demonstrated in numerous clinical trials.
04
Medically Registered, Listed & Certified
100% medical grade silicone is classified as a medical device. It is legally required to be registered, listed and/or certified in most countries before it can be distributed and sold. For example, in New Zealand, it is regulated by MedSafe.
It goes without saying that all Myscar products hold the appropriate registrations and approvals in New Zealand and Australia. We go even further, maintaining the necessary certifications in the United States and Europe as well.
06
Trust
Since the very beginning, we've been recommended by leading medical professionals in New Zealand, including Origins OBGYN and the Tristram Clinic.
"I have a client who has had a large melanoma removed, I gave her Myscar to use and it has been A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!! Her wider medical team are blown away with how good her scar looks and feels..." - Bernie Te Moni-Withington, Oncology Scar Specialist, Owner of Wairoa Collective

NZ Owned & Operated
We are proudly owned, operated, and designed in New Zealand.
How Myscar Works
-
Promotes hydration, reducing excessive moisture loss during scar formation by trapping moisture, thereby improving texture and pigmentation;
-
Provides compression, keeping the scar and surrounding skin comfortably taut helping the scar remain smooth, soft and flat; and
-
Regulates collagen production, the micro-climate of hydration regulates and normalises collagen production preventing and improving abnormal scars.
Myscar effectively creates an environment similar to healthy skin, often referred to as a “second skin.” This optimal environment promotes faster healing and helps restore the skin’s natural colour and texture, significantly improving the scar’s overall appearance.
How Long Should Patients/Clients wear Myscar For?
-
Our silicone is designed to last between 7-14 days, depending on which product is used. Our reusable silicone strips provide the perfect balance between durability and hygiene.
-
Our medical grade silicone is hypoallergenic and safe for almost all skin types. However, we recommend starting by wearing it for just a few hours a day, gradually increasing wear time as skin adjusts. This gradual approach helps ensure maximum comfort. Myscar is designed for continuous use—ideally worn 24 hours a day and only removed for showering, bathing, or swimming.
-
For optimal results, we recommend wearing for a minimum of 12 hours a day for at least 3-6 months; but optionally up to 12 months+ for further aesthetic healing / best results.

Information for Obstetricians, Midwives & postnatal Pelvic Health Physios
Myscar's original success first came from our premium C-section silicone strips - a NZ first. These silicone strips support the healing of C-section scars from as early as 6 weeks post birth (or once you have confirmed your patient’s incision has closed and all stitches/sutures have been removed). There are two types of C-section products available - *The Original* and *The Active*. Both are effective on abnormal scars such as keloid and hypertrophic.
In simple terms, *The Active* is the washable version of *The Original*. Because of this, *The Active* is slightly thicker and more durable.
Still unsure which one is right for your patient/client? Here's a quick guide:
Choose *The Original* if they:
-
Prefer the thinnest, most delicate strip
-
Only plan to remove it once per day
-
Don’t have particularly sensitive skin
Choose *The Active* if they:
-
Want a strip that can be washed and reused
-
Plan to wear it during exercise
-
May need to remove and reapply it more than once a day
-
Prefer something more durable
-
Have slightly or more sensitive skin
Our silicone is also safe and suitable for infants and children when used under close adult supervision. For application on young skin, it’s important to first perform a brief patch test. If no irritation occurs, gradually increase usage over time, building up to 12–24 hours per day.
Our products are commonly used to support healing after heart and stomach surgeries, burns, and accidental injuries requiring stitches.
Have a patient with an unusual scar size or shape? We can also provide custom-sized products. For treating multiple scars, we recommend our premium silicone roll. Our roll can be cut to size and is the most cost effective way to treat multiple scars or scars of an unusual size or shape.

We’ve designed our silicone to allow gentle massage over it, understanding that some people need time before they feel comfortable touching or massaging their scar directly. Encouraging silicone application helps individuals gradually reconnect with and care for the area, providing peace of mind with a protective barrier between their hands and the scar. While silicone supports healing and improves the scar’s appearance, massage works on the deeper tissue layers—together creating the perfect combination for optimal recovery.
Many of our specialists use Myscar silicone in their clinics as the initial step in scar massage therapy.
